Lecture on Services to Pilgrims Held by KAU Research Endowment Fund

A number of services are extended to the guests of Allah by the Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques (PTHM) to enable them to perform their rituals in ease and comfort, said Dr Muhammad Al-Khozaim, PTHM Deputy President.

Dr Al-Khozaim was addressing a lecture titled "Services in the Grand Mosque: Achievements and Challenges" organized by the Research Endowment Fund of King Abdulaziz University (KAU) on Sunday 23rd October 2011 at King Faisal Convention Centre.

In attendance were Prof Abdurrahman Alyoubi, KAU Vice President for Educational Affairs, Prof Adnan Al-Mazrooa, KAU Vice President, Dr Ahmed Nagadi, KAU Vice President for Business and Knowledge Creativity, and Dr Essam Kawthar, Director of KAU Research Endowment Fund.

According to Dr Al-Khozaim, services provided to Hajjis include holding and recording classes, lessons and sermons, distributing Zamzam water and guiding pilgrims on how to perform pilgrimage rites correctly.

Speaking about other projects, he said the newly expanded masaa (the running course between Safa and Marwa) could now accommodate 120,000 pilgrims at a time instead of 40,000.

He also disclosed plans to expand the mataf (the circumambulation areas around the Holy Kaaba) and provide air-conditioning for all parts of the Grand Mosque, adding that the two projects would be carried out shortly along with the new Haram expansion project.

He also unveiled a deal with the Ministry of Education in Makkah Al-Mukarramah to get volunteer students to help clean the Grand Mosque so as to instill in them a strong love and dedication to the most sacred place for Muslims.
