King Abdul Aziz University is due to hold its fifth annual scientific endowment ceremony on Sunday, October 10th, at King Faisal Conference Center in the presence of HE Prof Osama S. Tayyeb, KAU President, and a number of dignitaries and businessmen.
Dr. Osama R. Jastaniah, Executive Director of Scientific Endowment at KAU, pointed out that the event was aimed at recognizing the objectives of scientific endowment, highlighting the its achievements and services to society, as well as strengthening relations with benefactors and endowment makers.
He also said that KAU scientific endowment was the first of its kind in the Middle East, and that many bequests were made to encourage scientific research in various fields, including engineering, science, medicine, sociology and disaster prevention.
He also added that the KAU Endowment was seeking to support a wider range of academic disciplines.
He also said that KAU was established 40 years ago, owing to an initiative by a group of dignitaries and businessmen, who endowed land and cash and contributed with their thoughts and time.
He also stressed that scientific endowment had played a remarkable role in the development of the Islamic sciences, and that one of the main algorithms of university ranking was the ability to attract scientific endowment.
